A Magical Mystery - (anti) book review
Honestly? I read stories about girls on the Internet where the narrator had a more extensive vocabulary and made up better sentences.
Dialogues ... About them, I got the impression that they were written by a man who had never read books for young people in his life. Whoever placed this item in this category has an extremely cruel sense of humor. I was amused to tears by the girls' conversation with Rahar. Give a hand to those who offer help from strangers at the expense of their own time. And he thinks of himself in all this, that angels need humor. Artificiality surpasses not only the attitude, but also the words of each of the characters. And besides all this... what is this secret that is revealed to a crowd of people?
In conclusion... no. I do not know the author personally and would not like to offend her with my opinion, but let's be realistic! The book has only 68 pages. Of course, this is not a disadvantage, but even in this amount you can write and seduce the reader with talent, grace and action. Not only do I not feel seduced, but the story has pushed me away. So with all due respect to the efforts put into this book, but I think it's a bit of a fairy tale.
Book Review Conversations about Christianity - (anti) Book Review
In support of his thesis that Christians struggle with reason and all knowledge, the author mentions the burning of the Library of Alexandria. However, it is not specified who was supposed to do it. It is known from history that the volumes collected in Alexandria burned more than once. For the first time, this "struggle against knowledge" was launched by Caesar's army in 48/47 BC. During the shelling from the sea, the royal palace caught fire. According to Plutarch's estimate, 40,000 people were burned. Marek Antoniusz donated 200,000 works stolen from the library in Pergamon. They, in turn, were burned during the Jewish revolt against Rome in 115 AD. Another fire occurred in 391 AD, when Emperor Theodosius issued a decree banning paganism throughout the empire. It is unknown who set fire to the library. There is also a legend that in 642, Caliph Omar burned collections of books, saying: "Either these books contain the same as the Koran, so they are not needed, or something else, so they are harmful." Thus, pagans (Romans), Jews, Christians (which, as mentioned earlier, is not reliable), as well as Muslims fought with the help of knowledge collected in the Library of Alexandria.
As a thinking person, it's worth asking questions. It's worth thinking about your life and beliefs. This will help you either confirm your behavior or change it. Reading books helps in this meditation. From time to time, it's worth choosing one that contradicts our worldview. You just need to choose wisely. Polemicization should not be a campaign, but a substantive discussion, a sincere conversation. Unfortunately, there is no such conversation or discussion in the book Conversations about Christianity.
